Chris Golightly: Audition Video S9 American Idol

Christopher “Chris” Golightly (a.k.a. Orphan) split the judges with his audition in L.A. Katy Perry said, “this is not a Lifetime Movie, Sweetheart” Thus earning his name as Lifetime Movie Guy.An orphan, that has been through more than we could ever imagine, proudly stood up  and sang, “Stand by Me”. A fitting song, since Chris has been in foster care since he was 18 months old, and has lived with more than 25 families.

Randy Jackson said, “I like you, man, there’s something very interesting about you.”

Kara DioGuardi said that Chris was one of her favorite auditions of the day, if not her favorite and that he has a good story. She said,  ”We may look back at this audition and go wow, because your the kind of kid who has just enough talent and just enough of a story and pain and stuff you have gone through in your life to connect with it and your only going to get better.” Kara and Randy loved him.

Simon thought it was just a nice, old-fashioned audition, and guest judge Katy Perry told Kara, “This is not a Lifetime movie, sweetheart. He has an amazing story, but you have to have talent.”

Simon gave him a small y, Katy gave him a small y and said maybe he would grow on her, Kara gave him a big Y and Randy gave him a giant Y, for yes! Randy said “Golightly Chris”

Welcome to Hollywood Chris! For someone that has had nothing, this truly is something and is a great step towards achieving your goals! We are wishing you luck! Could he be the next Adam Lambert? Could he make it to the Idols tour?
