Chris Golightly: Audition Video S9 American Idol
Christopher “Chris” Golightly (a.k.a. Orphan) split the judges with his audition in L.A. Katy Perry said, “this is not a Lifetime Movie, Sweetheart” Thus earning his name as Lifetime Movie Guy.An orphan, that has been through more than we could ever imagine, proudly stood up and sang, “Stand by Me”. A fitting song, since Chris has been in foster care since he was 18 months old, and has lived with more than 25 families.

Chris Golightly was born in San Pedro, CA. His nickname is Orphan, and it’s not just a name. When he was three years old, he was placed in the system. Growing up without any parents by his side is what he had to accept. Chris learned as a child it was very rough and Orphan had to stand up on his own two feet. Every holiday was harsh for Chris because his parents and his family were never there. Every year was becoming more and more stressful for Christopher Golightly. The older Orphan got the angrier he became. Running away from foster homes every five months made Chris GoLightly come to realize he had stories to tell.
At the age of six, Chris was singing and performing. At the age of twelve Rich Mullins inspired Christopher to start writing. Orphan was then chosen to be on a Christmas Musical CD called “Once Upon a Christmas Time.” Throughout the years Chris Golightly’s dreams and goals have been expanding. Ever since he was three to the present day, Chris Golightly is still an Orphan, ready and dedicated to his music.
Currently, Chris Golightly is featured on several American Idol Season 9 promos. His audition hasn’t actually aired yet, but I know it will knock the socks of of America!

Chris Golightly American Idol Season 9
Chris Golightly performed “Stand By Me” as his American Idol Season 9 audition song. His unique look, and perfect voice were enough for the producers to use him on one of the main promos for American Idol 2010. His back story is something that will stick with viewers long after he stops singing. Growing up as an orphan in the foster care system, Chris found himself. He is a musician, and this form of escape early on might just be his ticket to a bright future!
